LA RIOTS, DOCTOR DRU

Doctor Dru lives in the deeps end of house music. His most recent track “The Voice Of Doctor Dru” utilises some great synths including a spacey bridge midway through the track.

If you haven’t heard LA RIOT’s remix of “Oh My Lord” then you’re in for a treat. It’s pretty housey and a little astray from the harder electronic sounds you might be used to.

Faithless – We Come Insomnia – Nylez Mix

Damn, it’s nice outside in Montreal. You’re a fool if you aren’t planning to spend some quality time admiring the sun and summer-dresses. As for myself, I’ll make it short tonight since I’m about to leave for TO.

I stumbled across this dope mix from Nylez this morning. If you’re not familiar with the artist, he’s a young upcoming dutch producer that started mixing at the age of 12 and released his first album, “Mucho Caliente”, in 2007 on a label called Big Boss Records.
All you got to know is that his work is not to be overlooked.

Sweet Sweet Summertime

So it seems as if the summer weather is finally here to stay, in Montreal at least.  Nothing better than long days of warm rays and beautiful French women in sundresses.  Spending a gorgeous Sunday jammin’ at the tamtams on Mount Royal inspired me to share some reggae/dub vibes from the extremely talented yet widely unrecognized reggae scene in New Zealand. Salmonella Dub, The Black Seeds and Katchafire all have a solid fan following but aren’t as well known as they should be in North America.. In any case, if I had to sum up the general style of music that comes out of this island country located in the Southwestern Pacific (straight from Wikipedia), it consists of heavy bass lines, amazing brass sections, feel good rhythms and uplifting, positive vibes. Without further ado’

The Black Seeds – Heavy Mono E

Here’s a really cool music video shot by Ed Davis for the song Pippy Pip off of the Black Seeds new album Dust and Dirt.. Interesting mystical feel mixed with childhood nostalgia.

Katchafire – Bounce. Live session with the band…flying chickens, nuff said.

Call up your friends, get out in the sun and crack a couple beers cuz’ it’s that time of year again

It’s not about love

A.C.A.B.

I was digging in the dusty recesses of my hard drive, and found this Fiona Apple tune that I used to spin quite a bit whenever I was feeling down. Corny, mayhaps, but a good song nonetheless. The second tune is one of the most recent releases from Chicago via NYC producer Brenmar. I’ve waxed poetic about this guy’s tunes before, so I won’t gloss over the fact that his hybrid club sound is one of the dopest things out there. You should already know.

Je vais vous laisser finir

Nothing like some good hip-hop to finish off a painfully long work day.

Let’s not bog you down with too much elaboration or description, though. I’ve included the two latest offerings from Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D Music. The first tune, Mercy, was featured on the legendary mix that Drippin dropped for us last week. (By the way, check that out if you haven’t already, it’s pretty boss)

The second is a remix of Chicago’s rising trap star, the very divisive Chief Keef. Love him or hate him, I Don’t Like is a street anthem, and a bona fide hit. Kanye’s remix is icing on the cake.

DJ Ghost Pepper

I was going to write a post using clever metaphors to explain how ‘hot’ these songs are, but I’ll spare you the agony of reading that.

DJ Ghost Pepper, an anonymous producer, is part of the BODY HIGH family, and continues the fine tradition of BODY HIGH‘s completely unfuckwithable roster, which is to release some of the most insane and innovative club music that you have ever heard.

These tunes are absolutely ridiculous, in the best way possible, and are an amazing way to kickstart the summer.

Enjoy the delirium.
